Custom Built Bat Houses

This custom built bat house was built for a long time customer of ours that lives In Florida and has a cabin in Montana. He needed a special size bat house to place within a restricted area adjacent to the wall where the bats have taken up residence beneath the wood siding on the cabin wall.

The construction of this bat house is of the same high quality cedar construction as of our standard model bat houses. It is built with 100% northern white Cedar and has a 24 gauge, prefinished (painted), sheet metal roof and back panel.

This custom built bat house measures 37" inches in width x 32" in height x 5" in depth. It is a 3-chamber or 3-cell unit. The customer chose to install a water base stain the same color as the siding after delivery.

Custom Bat House I was contacted by Brian B. from MO about building him a special size Bat House. He has an existing single chamber bat house mounted on the wall of his house that measures 14" w x 24" t x 4" d. The existing house has had a population explosion over the past two years and he feels it is time for a larger house. He had done some research and determined that he wants the new house to be built with 1" spacing between the chambers. He believes that the bats that he has occupying the existing house are Big Brown Bats that would do better with 1" chamber spacing instead of the 3/4" chamber spacing that the existing house is built with.

After speaking with Mr. B we decide to build a Three chamber house with 1" chamber spacing on the rear metal panel that we use for the 4 & 5 cell units. This would give the bats a large residences 18" W x 23" H x 6" D.

Mr. B did the painting his self so he can match the color of his house.

Thank you again for the custom bat house. Excellent quality and construction. Our previous bat house was embarrassing by comparison! Painted the house several weeks ago with latex exterior paint to match the house color to help it "blend in". Finally got a decent break in the weather and work schedule yesterday to hang the new house.

Custom Built Bird Houses

Mrs. K contacted us to see if we would build a special bird house for her son as a birthday gift. She sent me a photo as to a design that she had seen. Once I received the photo to see what she had in mind I put my thinking cap on and came up with a four-chamber bird house design for her.

I decided I would construct a bird house out of old barn wood of some sort. It just so happens that I was installing one of our three chamber bat houses for a customer in Grand Ledge, Mi. that had an (100 year) old barn that they were tearing down. The barn was yellow "How different" that would be to build the bird house out of an old yeller barn. So that is what took place.

I built four compartments all with clean out doors on the back side and screen liner to raise the nest up off the floor so the nest would have air flow to reduce the nest from mites. I installed 16oz. handmade copper roofing on each sloped roof area and a floor pipe mounting bracket so it could be installed on a 1.5" steel pipe placed in the ground.
