Children's Playhouse
All of our playhouses are handcrafted from Northern Cedar except for the floor joist.
We start with rough cut lumber, kiln dry it, then plane it down on one side so it is all of equal thickness with a smooth surface for the interior side of the structure.
All floor joist are made of pressure treated two inch by six inch lumber.
Approximate outside dimensions of the children’s playhouse are 8’ x 6’2”. Approximate inside dimensions are 5’10” x 5’10” with a six foot ceiling height.
Construction
- All construction is assembled with resin coated staples and nails for strength and durability.
- Each unit is constructed so that the floor joist serves as a skid if you need to move it at any time.
- The unit has one entry door with a window and three sliding Plexiglas windows with shutters and a planter box beneath two windows.
- There are no exposed fasteners on the interior of the structure that could be of concern to your child’s safety.
- The interior area at the roof and wall is caulked with a 50 year caulking to help prevent the entrance of insects.
- The roof is constructed with exterior grade CDX sheeting, felt roofing paper, and shiplap design rough sawn lumber applied horizontally to prevent water from entering the interior.
- Both the siding and floor area are of vertical application with overlapping (rabbet) joint construction.
- The front porch area has a decorative railing on three sides.
- The outside is stained with one coat of natural finish, water based stain.
