Duck Boxes made from Rough-Sawn Cedar - Easy to Clean
Duck Box Cedar
Our Duck Boxes are made from rough sawn Northern Cedar for longevity, caulked at all seams, and constructed with brass coated finish screws. We have designed the box to be cleaned out with ease. The complete side of the box opens by removing two pins that allow the door to swing wide open. All Duck Boxes have a 4” x 16”x ¼” wire cloth attached to the rear side of the front panel beneath the entrance way so chicks can climb out. Our design complies with the standards of the most recent publications for nesting water birds.
They are intended for use by three different species of ducks: the Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser and the American Kestrel (a Falcon).
Outside Dimensions of duck box: 9 1/4" W, 9 3/4" D, 26" H, Weight 14 lbs.
The boxes can be mounted on a wood post or attached to a 2” PVC pipe with mounting brackets furnished with the Duck Box. We also include a bag of wood shavings for nesting with each Duck Box.

Installation
A duck box can be installed in several locations. Near a pond, river, or a lake. They can be installed on a dead tree near the waters edge, on a pole or post near the waters edge. Although these areas are acceptable locations they all have one draw back. They need a predator guard around the object that you are mounting it on to keep raccoons and like predators from raiding the box and eating the eggs.
The best location to install a duck box is within the water, away from the shore line and free from objects that predators can use to access the box. The box should be installed five to six feet above high water level.
We can provide duck box installation within a 60 mile radius of Hartland, Michigan for $234.95. If you are located further than 60 miles from our location, there is a travel charge of $0.90 per mile one way (after the first 30 miles). Our installation package includes all the required materials and equipment for a complete installation of your newly purchased duck box. We will send out two men for safety reasons, equipped with a boat for the installation.
Our installation process is as follows. We will install a 7 foot T-post driven into the ground. Then we will install a 2” PVC pipe over the T post filled partially with ready mix concrete. Once these procedures are completed we will then install your newly purchased pole mounted style duck box.
The above installation price is based on direct access to the water area. This means we do not need to portage our boat and or equipment over land by hand. If there is an issue about the water access you will need to send us additional information about this through our contact page.
